Police Scotland are seeing a rise in scams in which criminals are impersonating police officers over the phone/or in person. These scams result in victims parting with large sums of money. The scammer informs the victim that they have spotted a fraud or attempted fraud on their accounts and the victim is persuaded to pass or transfer money to the “police officer” on the phone/or in person for safe keeping. Please share the attached leaflet amongst your network including family and friends.
